YES BANK has appointed Nitesh Ranjan Prasad as Head of Operational Risk, bringing more than 20 years of experience across banking, operational risk, technology risk, information security governance, outsourcing risk, digital risk and credit risk.
Prasad joins YES BANK after spending nearly six years at Axis Bank, where he held senior risk-management positions. From December 2020 to February 2026, he served as Head – Operational Risk, with responsibilities covering operational risk, outsourcing risk, digital risk management, business continuity management, technology risk, and new product and process approvals.
In February 2026, he moved to Head – Information Security Governance & Technology Risk at Axis Bank, expanding his responsibilities into information-security governance and technology-related risk.
Before Axis Bank, Prasad spent more than 13 years with HDFC Bank, progressing through several roles from Senior Manager to Senior Vice President. His responsibilities covered priority-sector credit management, wholesale banking credit risk, operational risk and outsourcing risk. He also served as Head, Outsourcing Risk Management, including at Senior Vice President level.
Earlier in his career, Prasad worked with ICICI Bank, Fortress Financial Services and Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation. His initial professional experience included infrastructure advisory and development projects before he moved into banking and risk management.
His career therefore combines credit risk, operational risk, outsourcing risk, technology risk, information security and business continuity, areas that have become increasingly interconnected within banking.
The appointment comes as banks face a broader operational-risk environment involving digital platforms, technology dependencies, cyber threats, third-party relationships and business-continuity challenges.
For banks, operational risk management increasingly extends beyond traditional process failures and internal controls. Technology disruptions, vendor failures, cyber incidents and weaknesses in digital processes can create interconnected exposures across multiple business functions.
Prasad’s experience across these areas provides a broad risk-management background for his new role at YES BANK.
The appointment also reflects the growing importance of specialised operational-risk leadership within banking institutions as technology and external dependencies become increasingly important to financial-service delivery.
