Budget increases financial assistance for Disaster Management Dept. and Civic bodies

The Union Budget 2020 has announced financial assistance for Disaster Management Department and Local Civic bodies with an increase by threefold for the financial year 2020-21, said Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi.

Mr Miodi said that according to the recommendations of 15th Financial Commission, the enhancement has been done. A provision of Rs 569.50 crore has been made in the Union Budget for Disaster Management department in the last financial year which has now gone up to Rs 1888 crore. In a similar manner, Rs 818.90 crore was earmarked for the Local Civic bodies in the last financial year which has increased to Rs 2416 crore.

He said, “Patna Municipal corporation would get Rs 408 crore, half of which would be spent on controlling air pollution and the rest half on drinking water and solid waste management.”
