Coalition Launches Tool to Prevent Business Email Compromise

Cyber insurance provider Coalition has introduced a new feature on its cyber risk management platform aimed at helping businesses prevent business email compromise (BEC) attacks and reduce associated financial losses.

The new capability is designed to identify and address vulnerabilities that cybercriminals commonly exploit to compromise business email accounts and conduct fraudulent activities.

Business email compromise remains one of the most costly forms of cybercrime, where attackers use phishing, credential theft or impersonation techniques to gain access to corporate email systems. Criminals often use compromised accounts to manipulate employees into transferring funds, sharing sensitive information or approving fraudulent transactions.

Coalition’s platform enhancement provides organisations with greater visibility into email-related risks and helps them take preventive actions before attacks occur. The feature forms part of the company’s broader approach of combining cyber insurance protection with proactive cybersecurity tools.

Traditional cyber insurance primarily focused on financial recovery after an incident. However, insurers are increasingly moving towards prevention-oriented solutions by helping policyholders identify vulnerabilities, strengthen security controls and reduce the likelihood of claims.

The rise of business email compromise has increased pressure on organisations to improve employee awareness, implement stronger authentication measures and monitor suspicious account activity.

Coalition said the new capability supports businesses in managing cyber risks more effectively by providing actionable insights and improving their ability to respond to emerging threats.

As cyber threats become more sophisticated, organisations are expected to adopt a combination of technology, employee training, risk management practices and insurance protection to build stronger cyber resilience.
