The Federation of European Risk Management Associations (FERMA) is stepping up efforts to build a stronger and more collaborative risk management community across Europe, with a greater focus on cooperation, knowledge-sharing and engagement among its national associations.
Speaking at FERMA’s General Assembly in Brussels, President Philippe Cotelle said the federation’s “Together Stronger” approach is aimed at creating a more resilient European risk management community by strengthening links between national associations and giving members greater opportunities to contribute.
FERMA has already launched several initiatives under this strategy, including its inaugural Presidents’ Workshop and the establishment of the Next Generation European Risk Council. According to Cotelle, FERMA is increasingly positioning itself as a central community hub for European risk managers, supporting knowledge exchange and delivering practical value to its member associations.
The federation is also seeking to improve communication and feedback mechanisms so that advocacy initiatives, practical tools, collaborative projects and networking opportunities better address the specific requirements of its members.
FERMA has additionally expanded its focus beyond traditional risk management activities. Its recently launched Open Sesame initiative explores new approaches to financing climate adaptation, reflecting the growing role of risk professionals in responding to wider economic, environmental and societal challenges.
At the General Assembly, FERMA also announced the election of five members to its board: Sonia Cambier of Solvay, Sharon Cilia Tortell of Steadfast Insurance Partners, Gabriella Fraire of Prysmian Riassicurazioni, Panu Haapaniemi of UPM and Richard Hoult of Synthomer.
Cotelle said the board brings together a broad mix of expertise and leadership that will support FERMA in strengthening the voice of risk management professionals and promoting the value of the profession across Europe and internationally.
