Thales Strengthens Data Security Posture Management for AI Risks

Thales has announced enhancements to its Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) capabilities to address emerging data-security risks associated with artificial intelligence. The company said the expanded capabilities are designed to help organisations identify and manage sensitive data exposure as AI systems increasingly access, process and use information across complex enterprise environments.

The updated approach focuses on improving visibility into where sensitive data resides, how it is accessed and how it is being used by AI applications. As organisations deploy generative and agentic AI, data can move across cloud platforms, applications and AI services, creating risks around unauthorised access, excessive permissions, data leakage and inappropriate use. DSPM can help security teams identify these exposures and strengthen controls around sensitive information.

The development highlights the growing connection between AI governance and data-security management. Organisations need to understand not only which AI systems they are deploying, but also what data those systems can access and whether the associated permissions and controls are appropriate. For banks, insurers and other data-intensive organisations, stronger data discovery, classification, access monitoring and risk assessment can form an important layer of AI-risk management.
